Xavier Seniors and Parents,
One of the most meaningful and enjoyable parts of the graduation process here at Xavier is the Baccalaureate Celebration this Wednesday. We begin the night at 7:00 p.m. with Mass at St. John XXIII, located at 8100 Roncalli Dr. SW. We are asking that you and your senior student sit together for the Baccalaureate Mass. At the end of the Mass, we will have a special blessing for students involving parents.
We are starting a new tradition of hosting Baccalaureate Mass at a rotating Cedar Rapids parish, symbolizing that as students graduate from Xavier High School, their faith community is now more than ever the parish, not the high school. Seating at St. John XXIII is limited, so we ask that only seniors and their parents attend. Please also consider carpooling as much as possible. The time frame for the entire evening is 7:00 to 9:30 p.m.
Seniors, please remember to wear modest attire that is respectful and conservative. For girls, that typically means dresses or skirts that fall at or below the knee and covered shoulders. For guys, that typically looks like dress pants with a button-down shirt (tie optional). Please avoid overly casual or revealing clothing to help maintain the revenant atmosphere of Mass.
Following Mass, a brief intermission will take place. Families may enjoy some refreshments, view the digital senior art show, take photos or visit. When all return to the sanctuary for the speakers, the senior class will sit together in the front section of the pews, and parents will fill in on the side pews and behind the seniors.
May God bless all of you.
Sincerely,
Lynn Holverson
