State Bound: Xavier Girls Tennis
The girls tennis team wrapped up the regular season on Thursday last week with a commanding 9-0 win over Waterloo West. Individual and doubles regional play took place on Wednesday and Thursday this week, with all six Xavier athletes advancing to the state tournament. Gabi Flemin was crowned the Singles Champion, while Lulu Rozeboom finished as the Singles Runner-up. In doubles competition, Tia Halabi and Gemma Younadam claimed the championship, and Kelsey Weiss and Gemma Zeckser finished as the runner-ups. Individual and doubles state competition will take place October 1st and 2nd in Iowa City.
Boys and Girls Cross CountryCross Country had a great showing again last week at Seminole Valley. The girls finished 8th overall with top 20 finishes coming from Mia Deegan, who placed 5th overall, and Raleigh Barton, who placed 18th overall. The boys finished 11th as a team.
Xavier Football Team
The #1 Saints Football team marched on to another win and are now 3-0 on the season. They defeated Clear Creek Amana on Friday with a score of 54-21. The team will travel to Williamsburg on Friday for the 9th/V matchup with the Raiders, with varsity kickoff scheduled for 7:30pm.
Girls Volleyball
The Volleyball team picked up a massive win as they defeated 5A #5 ranked Iowa City West on Tuesday by a score of 3-1. They return to action on Saturday at the Benton Invite, which begins at 9am.
Girls Swimming
The girls swimming team continues to see great success, with several athletes placing in the top three in their events on Tuesday, Sept. 16th. Lilly Anctil placed 1st in both the 100 Yd Butterfly and the 100 Yd Breaststroke, while also finishing 2nd in the 200 Yd Medley Relay and the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay. Sarah Foerster placed 1st in the 400 Yd Freestyle Relay and took 2nd in the 200 Yd Medley Relay, the 500 Yd Freestyle, and the 100 Yd Backstroke. Lydia Lueth finished 3rd in the 200 Yd Medley Relay, the 100 Yd Butterfly, and the 200 Yd Freestyle Relay. The CRK swimmers will travel to Wisconsin on Saturday, and we wish good luck to all who are competing.
Boys Golf
The boys golf team won the MVC Divisional meet on Monday with a team score of 293. Harrison Hartke was the meet medalist with a score of 67, and Logan Otting finished 5th overall. The team followed up this performance by winning the Warrior Invitational with an impressive 287 (-1). Hartke again led the way as medalist with a 68 (-4), while Otting carded a 71 (-1), Schmit a 74 (+2), and Pauly a 74 (+2).
