After a successful tenure as Xavier High School’s head volleyball coach, Amy Weiland, will be stepping down from her role to dedicate more time to her growing family. This decision comes after Weiland and her husband, Ben, welcomed their newborn daughter into the world shortly after the 2024 season.
Weiland has served as the head coach for Xavier’s volleyball program the past two seasons and continued the program’s success, leading the Saints to their eighth and ninth-consecutive state tournament berths in 2023 and 2024 respectively. For the first time in program history, Xavier Volleyball won the Mississippi Valley Conference division title and was crowned MVC Tournament champions in the same season in 2024. Weiland earned All-Metro and MVC All-Division Coach of the Year honors in addition to helping student-athletes achieve high levels of individual success during her time as Xavier’s head coach.
"We deeply appreciate Coach Weiland’s leadership over the past two seasons, guiding our volleyball team to two state appearances while building a strong team culture,” states XHS Activities Director, Matt Svare. “Her impact on our student-athletes goes beyond the court, and we thank her for her dedication. Amy remains a part of our Xavier family and we wish her and her family all the best as she moves on from her coaching role."
As Weiland steps down, the search for a new head coach begins immediately. Xavier High School is committed to finding a coach who shares the values Xavier’s mission and commitment to building upon a strong foundation of success with the school’s volleyball program.
